Your Bahamian sailing adventure begins at our base in Marsh Harbour. Familiarise yourself with your new boat in the calm, forgiving conditions of the Bahamas, sailing northwest from Marsh Harbour towards Great Guana Cay. Head for Settlement Harbour, where you can moor on the marina or a mooring buoy, or drop anchor and dinghy to shore. Visit Guana Cay’s excellent bars and restaurants or head to the beach—the reef off Guana Cay offers unmissable snorkelling and diving.

Sunset Beach

Grab a mooring buoy at Fisher’s Bay and take your dinghy to the aptly named Sunset Beach. The beach’s westerly aspect means the sunset views here are unmissable.

Head west from Great Guana Cay through the shallow turquoise waters of Abaco Sound. You’re headed for Green Turtle Cay, where you’ll find a number of harbours and bays to choose from. Moor in Black Sound to come and go during high and rising tide, but remember anchoring is prohibited here. Take a walk around the island to marvel at the unique architecture and stunning wildlife of Green Turtle Cay, or spend a lazy afternoon relaxing on the beach and snorkelling in the calm blue ocean. Green Turtle Cay is also known for its excellent restaurants, so sample the Bahamas’ famous lobster while you’re here.

Deserted beaches

Rent a golf cart to visit the beautiful, quiet beaches on the Atlantic side of the island.

Cruise gently away from Green Turtle Cay, pointing your bow southeast in the direction of Great Abaco once more. You’re headed for Treasure Cay, where you can moor in a sheltered marina offering easy access to the fabulous Coco Beach. Coco Beach is a three-mile stretch of bright white sand, with verdant jungle and mangroves to one side and the boundless North Atlantic to the other. Make the most of your opportunity to relax and sunbathe on one of the best beaches in the world.

Rent a Golf Cart

Rent a golf cart to visit the beautiful, quiet beaches on the Atlantic side of the island. Visit the Green Turtle Club Resort & Marina, where fuel, water and ice are available plus an outdoor restaurant called The Club Restaurant and an indoor bar called The Dollar Bar. Other popular restaurants and bars that are open include Sundowners bar and restaurant, Pineapples bar and restaurant, Tranquil Turtle Beach Bar and McIntosh Restaurant & Bakery.

Cruise eastwards through Abaco Sound on your way to Man-O-War Cay. Pass tiny Fish Cay’s North and Fish Cay’s South before entering Man-O-War Harbour, your sheltered mooring for the night. Man-O-War Cay has a strong boatbuilding heritage still evident today, with the island’s maritime legacy kept alive by contemporary boat builders. Just offshore from Man-O-War Cay divers can discover the spectacular remains of the USS Adirondack, with canons and other shipwreck debris littering the seafloor.

Expert boat builders

Boat enthusiasts can get a taste of Man-O-War’s proud boatbuilding past by visiting the Albury Brothers’ working factory to the eastern end of the harbour.

Follow the gentle curve of the Abaco barrier islands south from Man-O-War Cay. Sail the length of Elbow Cay until you reach the scenic peninsula of clean golden sand that is Tahiti Beach. Tahiti Beach is partially submerged at high tide but provides the perfect spot for sunbathing and swimming when the tide is low, so anchor nearby and step ashore to explore this island paradise.

Suggested lunch spots

The natural harbour of White Sound can be found halfway along Elbow Cay. Moor at the marina here to reach the spectacular, quiet beaches on Elbow Cay’s Atlantic side.

Set your sights on the northern end of Elbow Cay, sailing towards the wide open harbour of Hope Town. Grab a mooring buoy or a spot on the marina to explore picturesque Hope Town. This unspoilt, traditional island community is one of the undoubted highlights of a Bahamas sailing holiday, with a unique look and atmosphere that has seen the town used as a location in a number of films and TV shows.

Elbow Cay Lighthouse

Visit the unique Elbow Cay Lighthouse, one of the oldest kerosene lighthouses on Earth.

On the final day of your Bahamas yacht charter adventure, sail west across the Abaco Sound to our base in Marsh Harbour. Bask in the glow of the warm Caribbean sun as the ocean slips away behind you, hurrying back to make the most of your time on Great Abaco or taking it easy and simply relishing the fine sailing conditions of the Caribbean. Marsh Harbour’s many bars and restaurants are perfect for an afternoon spent watching the world go by with a cocktail or a plate of fresh seafood.

Winding Bay

Head south from Marsh Harbour to Winding Bay, a tiny crescent of bright white sand on the east coast. This little piece of paradise is perfect for swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing.
