Sailing Down Under

Australia’s sailing heritage is a long and proud one that has come to define its famous coastlines over the centuries. Today Sydney Harbour stands testament to its sailing heritage as yachts litter its vista daily beneath the iconic sails of the Opera House.

The many sea port towns along Australia’s coast eventually turned sailing into a multi-faceted industry. From trade to grand scale recreation, Australian sailing reflects its diverse heritage and cultures that has influenced the sport’s identity today.

The Great Barrier Reef is located on the north east coast of Queensland, Australia, which is home to our Whitsunday’s base – the perfect destination for a bareboat charter holiday.  The Whitsunday islands offer calm seas, pristine tropical weather and fringing reefs that surround many of the 74 islands that form the largest offshore island chain on Australia’s east coast.  The Whitsundays are the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven wonders of the natural world.
