Located in Placencia, Sunsail's Belize base is the perfect starting point for a wonderfully varied charter holiday. With the picturesque Belizean coast stretching out over 185 miles, there is an abundance of things to do and see. The marine life here is dazzling and yearning to be explored.
As you leave our base, you will head into the heart of the exquisitely beautiful Placencia Lagoon. This paradise is the ideal location if you're looking for an adventure as you can enjoy kayaking through the mangroves or hire a boat and take a trip up Monkey River to see Howler Monkeys and many more exotic creatures!

Fly to Placencia Regional Airport and it's a 30 minute transfer to the Sunsail base at Laru Beya Resort & Marina (can be arranged on request).

Wind and Sailing Conditions
The sailing is consistent and the water inside the reef is calm with few waves. The best sailing is in the deep waters of the Inner Channel and Victoria Channel. Trade winds are usually fairly consistent and out of an easterly direction.
Tidal range - approx. 18 inches
All Sunsail charters are restricted to sailing within the barrier reef. To visit the outer atolls and the blue hole, a skipper is required.
